Community Service provides an excellent opportunity to help with the environment. Most of us are aware of the huge impact that our daily activities have on the environment. By engaging in a few volunteer jobs, we are helping to preserve what has already been taken from nature. If everyone gave just a little of themselves away, it would greatly improve the environment. This is especially true of those who volunteer their time to build community gardens.

Community gardens are a wonderful way to get your hands dirty while still getting your hands dirty. It gives a person an opportunity to grow their own vegetables and flowers for free. There is no better feeling than being able to grow your own food in your own back yard. This type of gardening is good practice for when you get the chance to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

A community garden can also be a great way to make some extra money. Some people are willing to help out the less fortunate in our community and will donate a portion of what they harvest to their church, school, or other similar organization. Others will do volunteer work in schools, orphanages, nursing homes and even with the homeless. This is also a good way to learn about what goes into a healthy meal.
